How To Get A Device Out Of Safe Mode

What Is Safe Mode?

Are some of the apps on your POS device disabled (grayed out and not tappable) and you can’t figure out why? It might’ve found its way into Safe Mode. Let’s get this device out of Safe Mode and back into business! Follow the steps in this guide. 

Prerequisites

  • You see some apps on your device grayed out and they won’t open when you tap on them. This means the device is in Safe Mode. 

Limitations 

  • The Arryved Hardware Catalog is continually updated with the latest devices. Our customers are using different devices depending on when they joined Arryved. The steps in this article may vary slightly across individual devices. Not to mention system updates could change the interface of the device as well. Differences should be subtle enough to navigate through, but don’t hesitate to reach out to our award-winning Support Team if you get stuck. 

  • If your device is propped up on a stand, make sure the sides of it aren’t pressing down on the power or volume buttons. This is a common reason for a device accidentally entering Safe Mode. 

How It Works 

Some devices allow you to easily exit Safe Mode from the notifications screen. If not, all we need to do is restart the device!

Notifications Screen

  1. From the home screen of your device, place your finger on the top center of the screen and swipe down. 

  2. From the notification screen, toggle Safe Mode off

    • The device will restart itself. When it turns back on, it may have entered Airplane Mode. Swipe down from the top of the tablet to view the notifications screen again. Tap the airplane icon to turn Airplane Mode off

Restart

  1. From the side of the device, hold the power button down for about 5 seconds. 

    • Be sure to only press the power button and not the volume buttons. 

  2. From the options that appear, choose Restart.

  3. If you can’t restart, choose Power Off. Wait about 30 seconds and power back on. 

    • When the device turns back on, it may have entered Airplane Mode. place your finger on the top center of the screen and swipe down to toggle Airplane Mode off from the notifications screen.
