How To Pair Your MagTek Card Reader

How To Pair Your MagTek Card Reader

What Is The MagTek eDynamo Card Reader?

The eDynamo card reader by MagTek is a Bluetooth pairing or USB-wired card reader that accepts payment through a swipe. This guide will walk you through the initial steps of pairing your MagTek eDynamo Swiper for the first time.

Prerequisites

  • Grab your MagTek BLE or USB card reader.

  • You must also have the Arryved POS device handy that you wish to pair this reader to.

  • Be sure the reader is charged.

Limitations

  1. If you're using the USB cable, you still need to select the reader in the Arryved Service Settings. Unplugging the USB cable and plugging it back in, will require a re-selection in Arryved Service.

How It Works

USB Reader

Hardwiring your hardware is always the most reliable approach. If Bluetooth (BLE) isn't a must-have, we strongly encourage you to keep the reader plugged into your POS device using the USB cable.
  1. Plug the USB cable into the side of the MagTek reader, and the other end into the USB port on your POS device.
  2. Open Arryved Service on the POS device and log in.
  3. Tap STAFF from the top navigation bar.
  4. Tap Settings.
  5. Tap Reader.
  6. Select MagTek USB eDynamo from the list.
    1. If you ever unplug the USB cable and plug it back in, you'll need to re-select the reader here.

Bluetooth (BLE) Reader

Follow the steps below to pair your new device.

  4. Make sure the toggle switch next to the word Bluetooth is toggled ON and appears blue.

  5. Press and hold the pairing button on the BLE until the blue pairing light on the side of the device flashes. (About 3 to 5 seconds)

  6. Select your BLE device on the Available Devices list on the tablet/handheld device.

    1. The BLE will appear as eDynamo followed by the serial number of the BLE.

    2. You can check the serial number on the BLE by looking at the barcode sticker on the bottom of the swiper. You may have to remove it from its holder in order to see the barcode sticker.
