tDynamo Card Reader Troubleshooting

What Is tDynamo?

The tDynamo is Arryved’s newest card reader that offers tap, dip, swipe, and digital wallets all in one! The tDynamo is exclusive with Arryved Pay, our new, end-to-end, payment solution with in-house payment processing. Use this guide to troubleshoot your tDynamo card reader if you’re experiencing any issues.

Troubleshooting Tips

Light Sequences

The tDynamo has 4 LED lights on its left side. These lights help you indicate the current state of the reader and can help you troubleshoot from there.

Charging

  1. Is the reader fully charged?

  2. Is the charging cable functional? Can it successfully charge other tDynamo readers?

  3. Test the charging cable on different outlets.

Power On / Off

  • If all LEDs are off, the device is powered off

  • If LED #4 is solid red, the battery is dead.

Battery Life

  • If LED #4 is solid red/yellow/green, this indicates the battery life is below 50%.

  • The card reader may have trouble connecting when it reaches 20% battery life and lower.

  • In Arryved Service, the card reader's current battery % is displayed at the top of the screen when attempting to complete a transaction.

  • Arryved Service will notify you to plug in your card reader when it reaches below 25%.

To power on the device or to wake it from Sleep Mode:

  1. Tap the pushbutton on the side of the reader one time.

  2. All 4 LEDS will flash for a quick test. Then the reader will connect to the device it was previously connected to.

  3. If you need to pair the reader to your POS device, read the next section below.

Pairing / Repairing

Put the reader in Pairing Mode

  1. On the side of the reader, hold the pushbutton down for 3 seconds (no longer than 3!).

Is Bluetooth on and is the reader paired in your Android Settings?

  1. Within the Android Settings on your POS device select Connections

  2. Select Bluetooth. Make sure the toggle switch is toggled on.

  3. See if the reader is paired here. Look for the serial number on the back of your card reader.

  4. This reader should appear under the Paired Devices list as ‘tDynamoB…’ followed by the serial number. Tap it to pair it.

Try to repair the reader

  1. Select the small icon to the right of the device name and click Unpair.

  2. On your card reader, press and hold the button on the side of the reader for 2 seconds to enter Pairing Mode.

  3. Your tDynamo’s serial number should now appear in the Available Devices list on Android devices. Select it.

  4. When prompted for a pin type in 000000 (six zeros in a row).

Is the reader paired in Arryved Service?

  1. Open Arryved Service

  2. Tap on the STAFF screen.

  3. Tap Settings.

  4. Tap the Reader button.

  5. Select ‘tDynamoB[Serial #]’.

Reset

To force a reset on the card reader:

  1. Grab a paperclip, pen, or some other pointy object.

  2. Find the small pinhole located on the back of the reader.

  3. Press the pointy object into the pinhole and hold for 5-10 seconds until the reader powers off.

  4. Give it 10-30 seconds to rest before powering on.

  5. Press the pushbutton on the side of the reader one time to power it on.
