BBPOS Chipper Card Reader Overview

What Is A BBPOS Chipper?

The BBPOS Chipper is a Bluetooth credit card reader that allows many payment types. This article provides an overview of the general functionality of the Chipper. 

Limitations

  1. Card on file is not supported.
  2. Swiping is only supported when the dip payment fails 3 times.
  3. Does not support gift card swiping. Gift Cards can be manually entered.
  4. Not supported in Offline Mode.
    1. Having a backup MagTek swipe reader is strongly recommended. 
  5. Battery saving feature:  Auto-shutoff after 30 minutes of non-use.

How It Works

These are the supported payment types for one-and-done transactions with the BBPOS. 

Dip

Dip is commonly known as the chip reader function.

Card Tap

Tap to pay with card supported.

Digital Wallet Tap To Pay

Samsung, Google, and Apple Pay.

Swipe

Swipe is a last resort. If the dip function fails 3 times, swipe is then made available.
