Epson KDS Bump Bar Guide

What Is A Bump Bar?

A bump bar acts as the keyboard and mouse to your KDS and is used to manage the orders on your KDS monitor.

Prerequisites

  • Must have a Kitchen Display System (KDS) in order to use a Bump Bar.

  • You need one Bump Bar per monitor used in your KDS unless you are using a monitor just for display and do not need to manage orders on it.

Limitations

  • You can have a maximum of 21 order tiles visible on your screen.

  • If you have more orders than tiles on your screen, the additional orders will be on the next screen. Use the Bump Bar to toggle.

  • Tile numbers are in the upper left corner of the screen. If you have 21 Tiles on your screen and 22 orders, when you scroll to the 22nd order, it will then be in Tile 21 and Tile 1 will be off screen.

  • You can use buttons 1-9 to select tiles 1-9 when in Scroll Mode.

  • If you are not in Scroll Mode and you tap buttons 1-9, then it will bump that tile number instead of selecting it.

Use the 0/10 button to select or bump an order tile higher than tile 9.

  • To select or bump order tile 10, tap button 0/10 once.

  • While in Scroll Mode, tap Home (with the right pointing arrow) to scroll down the tile and highlight the next item within the tile.

  • While in Scroll Mode, tap Mode (with the left pointing arrow) to scroll up the tile and highlight the previous item within the tile.

  • Tap Scroll again to exit Scroll Mode.

This acts as a right arrow or down arrow.

  • When an order tile is selected in Scroll Mode, use the Home button to scroll down the tile.

  • If you are NOT in Scroll Mode, use the Home button to toggle across tiles to the right. When you toggle past the last tile on your screen the next orders will appear that were hidden on the second screen.

This acts as a left arrow or up arrow.

  • When an Order Tile is selected in Scroll Mode, use the Mode button to scroll up the tile.

  • If you are NOT in scroll mode, use the Mode button to toggle back to the tiles to the right.

  • Remember you can use the number buttons to bump entire tiles when NOT in Scroll Mode (Instead of using the Bump button).

  • Tap the Recall button to be in Recall Mode. You will then see a list of the bumped tiles.

  • Use the Home and Mode buttons to toggle back and forth to highlight your tile of choice.

  • Once the tile is highlighted, either tap Bump or the Enter Key (down/right arrow next to button 9).

  • You will then see the tile back on the active orders screen.

  • This is the Return Key used to return bumped items back to the main screen when using the Recall function.
