When you’re first getting started in ABM, you likely have one or more Batches in your production facility that are already in the works. Since you entered Inventory Counts for all your Materials, you don’t want to start those Batches’ recipes from the beginning in your ABM, because that will double-deplete the Materials that were already used before the Counts were entered. This guide shows you how to enter those half-done Batches from their current step in Production, to keep your Inventory neat and tidy.
The Batch you’re entering in ABM is already in progress in your physical production facility.
The beverage that the Batch is producing must be entered as a Finished Good in your ABM.
The ingredients used in the Batch must be entered as Materials in your ABM.
The vessels used for the Batch must be entered as Production Inventory Locations in your ABM.
The first steps of the Batch that have already taken place in real life will not be accounted for in your ABM Batch. However, the inventory of your Materials should be up-to-date if you performed your Inventory Counts upon onboarding.
In your ABM, click Inventory from the left sidebar.
Click Adjustments.
Click New Adjustment.
Fill out the Inventory Adjustment Details.
In the Summary field, write “Batch in Progress”.
Select the current date and time.
Click Add Item for just one Batch or Bulk Add if you have multiple Batches in progress.
Fill out the Item Details.
In the Item field, toggle to ‘Finished Goods’ and find the beverage that’s currently being produced (you may have done this already if you did a bulk add). Be sure to select the ‘Unpackaged 1 BBL’ size.
For Current Location, select New Inventory.
In the Change field, enter the size of the Batch. If it’s producing more than 1BBl, scale up.
Choose the Production Location that the Batch is currently in as the Destination Location (think what vessel).
Under Cost, select Custom Cost and enter the Cost Per Barrel if you know it. If not, you can choose Uncosted. You can always come back and enter it later. Don’t forget to scale up or down if the cost you have is more or less than 1 BBL.
Click Save on the Item Details window.
If you are doing a bulk add, you’ll be prompted to fill out the Item Details again for each additional beverage you added.
Click Save in the upper right corner of the Inventory Adjustment page. Then, click Finalize Adjustment in the same place.
See the new reference number in the header starting with ‘CMT-xxxx’. Keep this reference number handy; you may need it in the next step.
From the left sidebar in your ABM, click Production.
Click Batches.
Click Blank Batch.
Fill out the Batch Information.
Enter “Batch in Progress + (Beverage Name)” as the Batch Name.
The Scheduled Start Date should be the current day.
Scroll down the page and click Add Stage.
In the first field, enter the current stage that the Batch is in (such as “Fermenting” or “Conditioning”).
In the next field to the right, choose the current Production Inventory Location it’s in (such as FV1 or Brite Tank 4). This should be the same Location you chose in the Inventory Adjustment.
Save this Stage (click the floppy disk icon).
Click Add Task under the same Stage.
Change the Task Name to “Batch in Progress”.
The Output is going to be the Finished Good that this Batch is producing (think the name of the beer or beverage). Choose the ‘unpackaged 1 BBL’ size.
Keep the Inventory Location the same (it’s the same one you chose in the Stage.
In the Quantity field, scale appropriately. If this is a 10 BBL Batch, enter a 10.
In the Input field, select the same Finished Good and size as the Output.
The Inventory Location should autopopulate the same as the one above. If not, select the correct one (the vessel the Batch is currently in).
In the third field to the right, select the Inventory Adjustment from the dropdown. It should populate the correct one that’s associated with the specific Finished Good you’re working on. Look at the reference code to confirm.
The Quantity should autopopulate to match the Inventory Adjustment.
Save this Task (click the floppy disk icon).
Scroll to the top of the Batch page and click ‘Start [Stage]’ (the button will say whatever you named the Stage as).
Add any additional Stages and Tasks that are needed to complete this Batch. You won’t need to pull in the Inventory Adjustment again in the rest of the steps, just build out the remainder of the recipe as normal.
Read the ABM Recipes guide for more guidance on entering Stages and Tasks for a full recipe.
As this Batch moves through each Stage, be sure to click the ‘Start [Stage]’ and ‘Complete [Stage]’ buttons at the top of the Batch’s page to keep track of the progress in your ABM.
Next time you produce this same beverage, you can start the Recipe from the top and complete the Batch as normal. You won’t need to create an Inventory Adjustment the next time. Be sure to enter this Recipe in your ABM for future use.
