The Keg Tool in ABM helps you keep track of where your kegs are, what their status is, and what they’re filled with. Use the tool to keep track of Growlers, Crowler, and Casks, too! Read this guide to learn how to use the Keg Tool in your ABM.
Each keg must have a unique identifier. Use barcodes or create your own alpha-numeric identifiers.
The Keg Tool is not meant to track or update the Inventory Status of the Finished Goods that the kegs are filled with. This tool simply keeps track of the keg vessel itself within the Keg Tool. Use this tool in conjunction with your ABM Inventory practices.
You’ll first need to enter all your kegs so they can be identified by their barcode number or other unique identifier. There are a few ways you can do this:
Scan with the built-in camera
Scan with a paired barcode scanner
Manual entry
Click Kegs from the left side navigation bar.
Click Create.
Under Select a device, select your scanning method:
FaceTime HD Camera uses the camera on your computer
If you have an external barcode scanner paired, you’ll see that as an option here. (Connect your scanner via Bluetooth to the device you’re using ABM with. The scanner will then appear here and can be selected).
Select No Device to enter a keg manually.
Now you can scan the keg’s barcode with your scanner or built-in camera. Or, manually type in the unique identifier.
Click the plus sign to add the keg.
You can scan multiple kegs here before proceeding; however, when batch-scanning, you’ll want to only scan kegs together that are of the same type (1/2BBL, 1/6BBL, etc.) and have the same Status (Clean, Dirty, Filled, etc.).
When you’re done entering your list of kegs, click Review scanned kegs.
On the next screen, you can review your list of kegs and double-check that there were no mistakes. Then click Next.
On the next screen, fill out the details of the keg
Keg Type: Select the type of keg. Growlers, Crowlers, and Casks are welcome too.
State: Is the vessel Clean, Dirty, Filled, At Customer, or Archived?
Fill: This field appears when ‘Filled’ or ‘At Customer’ is selected as the State. Choose the Finished Good that this keg is filled with.
Add 1 units to inventory: Checking this box will add the Finished Good that this keg is filled with to your inventory. Please be aware that you may have already inventoried it via Batch Production or an Inventory Adjustment. If so, checking this box will double-count the inventory. Typically, folks use this checkbox when they are initially onboarding with ABM and need to simultaneously add kegs and inventory.
Location: Select which Inventory Location this keg is stored in. Select ‘Customer’ if it’s out at a customer location.
Customer: If ‘Customer’ was selected above, choose which one from your list of Customers.
Manufacturer: You have the option to log who you purchased this keg from. The manufacturer must be entered as one of your Suppliers.
Cost: You can enter the cost of the keg here. This will not affect any other tools in your ABM. It simply logs it in the Keg Tool for reference.
Click Create (x) Kegs. Keep in mind that the details you just entered will apply to all the kegs you scanned in this session.
If you have a very large inventory of kegs, you can call in a lifeline to help bulk upload them. Here’s what you need to do:
Open this Bulk Upload Spreadsheet.
Click File > Make a Copy. Give your new copy a name.
Fill out the columns for each of your kegs:
State: filled, dirty, clean, at_customer
Keg Shell: ½ BBL Keg, 10L, ⅙ BBL (Sixtel) Keg, etc.
Fill: Product Family name
Location: Customer name or Location name (i.e., Dry Storage, Taproom, etc.)
Serial: Identifier (1234, 5678, etc.)
Last tracked: DD/MM/YYYY, HH:MM AM/PM
At Customer: Y/N (indicates if the current location of the keg is on-prem or off-prem).
Once filled out, email it to abm-support@arryved.com or your implementation manager to complete the upload request.
Now that your kegs are successfully added to your Keg Tool, you can track the lending and return of them on your Invoices.
Click on a working Invoice from the table. The invoice must have a status of ‘Submitted’, ‘En Route’, or ‘Fulfilled’.
Under the Kegs section of the Invoice, you can click Scan Sold or Scan Returns.
Scan the barcode or manually enter the unique identifier. Continue through the steps on the pop-up window to review and add the keg(s) to the invoice.
On the homepage of the Keg Tool, you’ll see a list of your kegs and their details.
Hover over the last column to expand more options. You can add additional columns to the table to see more info about your kegs
To make an update, use the action buttons along the top of the page.
Once kegs are selected or scanned, use the Clean action to set their Location and mark them as Clean.
Once kegs are selected or scanned, use the Fill action to add the Finished Good that they are filled with and set their final Location. You have the option to use the ‘Add 1 units to inventory’ feature here.
Once kegs are selected or scanned, use the Move action to set their destination Location. You’ll want to do this anytime kegs are returned and in the temporary ‘loading’ Location. You can also use this action when moving kegs between storage locations.
Once kegs are selected or scanned, use the Dirty action to mark them as dirty and select a destination Location.
Once kegs are selected or scanned, use the Modify action to update the Keg Type, Manufacturer, Cost, or Date Last Tracked. You can also Move, Fill, or Clean the keg from here. More than one modification can be applied at once,
To archive a keg (remove from circulation), select the keg, click on the ellipses (3 dots) to the right of the keg row, and select ‘Archive Keg’
Using the Keg Tool simply tracks your kegs within the tool itself. If you want to treat your kegs like regular inventory in ABM, you can use the standard inventory tools, such as Purchase Orders and Inventory Adjustments.
Remember, filling a keg with one of your products does not affect the Inventory of that Product unless you use the ‘Add 1 units to inventory’ checkbox. However, be careful that you are not double-counting Inventory this way. Only use that checkbox if the Fill Product has not been added to Inventory the regular way (Batches or Inventory Adjustments).
