Bring your taproom to life with Digital Menus that
update in real time, showcase your brews, and keep your guests informed and engaged without the hassle of printing menus. Use this QuickStart Guide to learn how to build and display your Digital Menus in just a few steps:

  1. Refresher: Creating a Menu – a quick refresher on how to create Menus the regular way, for ordering through Arryved Service.

  1. Digital Menu Items– we’ll show you which components of your Inventory Items can be displayed on the Digital Menu.

  1. Digital Menu Designer – a walkthrough of the new Digital Menu Designer page, where you’ll custom create your Digital Menus.

  1. Casting Options – We’ll show you your display options and find the right fit for your taproom.

Limitations
  • Digital Menus and Venue Menus are not connected and do not sync with one and other. Venue Menus can be used as a shortcut when creating your Digital Menu, but any changes made after the initial configuration must be done to each menu individually.

  • Digital Menus are a paid integration and are therefore managed separately from the POS Venue Menus.

Refresher: Creating a Menu

Your standard Menus that live in your Venues are used for ordering through:

  • Arryved Service (your main POS)

  • Arryved Online Store

  • OpenTab

To create a Venue Menu, please refer to this guide: How to Create Menus

Digital Menu Designer

In this section, we’ll show you how to create and customize a Digital Menu.

  1. Head to your Arryved Portal

  1. Click Digital Menus from the left navigation bar, then Digital Menu Designer.

  1. Click + New Digital Menu.

To save a Digital Menu, you must fill out the following fields:

  • Digital Menu Name

  • Select a Venue Dropdown

  • Select a Venue Menu Dropdown

The Digital Menu Designer page has three sections:

  • The Items Tab – this is the default tab that loads whenever a new menu is created

  • The Design Tab

  • The Preview Window

Below is a description of fields on the Items Tab:

  1. Digital Menu Name – pick a name that will help you remember it and keep your Digital Menus organized. This is not a guest-facing name.

  1. Items and Design Tab Toggle – use this toggle to switch between the Items Tab, where Items are added and organized, and the Design tab, where things like fonts, colors, and styles are chosen

  1. Select a Venue and Select a Venue Menu  to start adding items to a Digital Menu from one of your existing Menus, first select the Venue it lives in, then select the Venue Menu(s) that you want to import items from, saving you time and keeping you from building a menu from scratch.

  1. Menu Pages – decide here if you would like your menu to be one page, or multiple pages that will cycle through your various items at a pre-determined interval. Page titles are not guest facing.

  1. Headers and Sections – choose a header that best fits the description of your sections. Here you can also add or remove items and reorganize item lists and section lists.

  1. If you need to make a change to any of the Item’s components, you may do that on its Inventory Item page in your Arryved Portal.

  1. Item Layout– decide if you’d like your item information to live within one singular column, two columns, or three.

  1. Menu State, Rotation Interval, and Menu Layout– mark your menu as either Active or Inactive using the Menu State dropdown. Remember, an Inactive menu cannot be cast to an external device. If you have multiple pages, select the interval of time you would like the pages to rotate at, or turn off rotation entirely. Finally, if you would like to use one of our two alternative menu layouts, the Two-fixed Sizes layout or the Hidden Sections layout, make your choice here.

  1. Item Fields – decide which of item fields you would like to have displayed on your menu using any of the following toggles.

  1. Theme Selection and Preview Window – feeling stuck stylistically? Try one of our twelve available, preset Themes to give your menu a pop! Instantly view any changes you have made to your menu via the Preview window.

After you have made your selections on the Items Tab, we can switch over to the Design Tab to start building out what your menu will look like:

  1. Logo Upload – upload your company logo here! The logo will appear as a standalone image on your menu header, or you can add additional text to accompany your logo. The upload size is limited to 500 kb, 500 x 500 pixels.

  1. Background Image Upload and Background Color – if you would like to feature your own image to be used as the menu background, you can do so here. Alternatively, you can use the color selector to select either a solid or gradient color to act as the background to your menu. The upload size is limited to 800 kb, 2560 x 1440 pixels.

  1. Overlay Opacity and Overlay Color – if you have uploaded a background image but would like to reduce the brightness or visibility, use the overlay slider to do so. You can also customize the overlay color, to make your text easier to read.

  1. Page Layout and Column Slider – use this dropdown to determine if you’d like your menu to be presented in either Landscape or Portrait mode. Remember, if you are utilizing our companion app to cast, the media controls on your TV can allow you to change this setting in real time. Utilize the column slider to determine how many columns you’d like your items broken out into (maximum 4 columns for landscape, or 2 for portrait).

Below the Column Slider, you have the option to change the typography for your Sections, Headers, and Individual items. The three editable fields are font type, font color, and font size. Headers and Sections also allow you to edit the background tile color or remove the tile altogether. Please keep in mind that all of these fields are guest-facing, meaning whatever you save here will be displayed on your menu.

Finally, the top-right bar has a few different options for saving and casting your menu:

  • Each menu comes with a custom Menu ID, which you can use to instantly cast your menu using the Arryved Digital Menus Companion App, downloaded via the Amazon Appstore on your Amazon FireTV or Firestick.

  • This ID is available to be copied

  • Alternatively, you can use the pop-out box to preview your menu in it’s own browser window.

  • The Clone Menu button allows you to instantly create an unsaved copy of your menu.

  • Revert any recent changes with the discard button.

  • Save the menu using the Save Button on the far-right side. Please note that your menu will remind you whenever you have unsaved changes (indicated on the left-hand side).

Once your Digital Menu is saved, it’ll start to populate your Menu Items, and you can use the Preview screen for a sneak peek.

Keep in mind that any changes you make to your menu will update in the preview window in real time! Depending on your cast connection, updates may take up to 60 seconds to update on any devices currently displaying your menu.

Pro Tip! If you need to make updates to your Menu Items, click the “View” button next to the Item to be taken to its Inventory Item page.

Casting Options

Digital Menus offers no restrictions on casting—cast as many menus as you’d like at once! You can also cast the same menu to multiple TVs without any interruptions.

Depending on your setup, there are three available casting options for your Digital Menus:

Option 1 – Using the URL

If you have a smart TV with a built-in Web Browser (Samsung, Toshiba, and LG, just to name a few), then you can cast directly from the TV itself.

Whenever a Digital Menu is created, it comes with its own unique URL. To find the URL, follow the pop-out link on your personal computer. This will open a new window, and the custom link will be located in your URL bar. Pull this link up on your TV’s web browser to pull up your Digital Menu (as long as its state is Active).

Here’s another way to do it: Head to this site → https://portal.arryved.com/amazonFireTvApp and type in your Digital Menu’s Public ID (six-digit code, located next to the Preview link).

Option 2 – Chromecast (or another browser cast)

Another option is to cast the Digital Menu right from the Digital Menu Designer using the native options within your Web Browser. For example, Google Chrome lets you cast via the three dots at the top right of your screen > click Cast, Save, and Share > and then click Cast:

It is important to note that using this method to cast will display whatever web page you currently have pulled up, so we recommend visiting the Preview link first.

Once the Preview is displayed, if there are compatible smart devices on the same network as your computer, you can select them via this option and pull up any web page.

  • Important! The laptop or computer used to cast this menu must keep that browser page open while casting. The screen must stay active to ensure the menu stays casted.

Option 3 – Amazon Fire TV App

The last option is to use the Arryved Digital Menus Companion app which can be downloaded via the Amazon Appstore. This option is only available to users with an Amazon supported device, such as an Amazon Firestick or an Amazon FireTV.

  1. Download the Arryved Digital Menus app from the Amazon Appstore.

  1. Open the app on your compatible device.

  1. Cast using the Digital Menu’s Public ID (located next to the Preview Link on the Digital Menu Designer).

Voila! You’re casting!
