The Domain Name System is the Internet's way of storing and managing its domain names. Think of it as the phone book of the internet.
A Domain Name is a website's unique URL. For example, www.Arryved.com is a domain name that exists in the DNS.
Everytime you visit a webpage on the internet, the DNS will look up the Domain Name like a phone book. It then converts it into an IP address for your computer to recognize and receive.
An Internet Protocol Address (IP address) is a unique set of numbers and periods that is assigned to hardware devices connected to the internet. An IP address can change, this helps strengthen the security of the internet and your devices.
There may be an instance where the Domain Name System (DNS) or an Internet Service Provider (ISP) is having an outage that disrupts your ability to use the Arryved platforms. This is a rare event, but can happen at any time. The DNS Bypass feature in Arryved Service could be a solution that allows you to transact during an outage.
Important: Arryved Support may instruct you to turn this on as an attempt to help your situation. Do not turn on DNS Bypass without Arryved advising you to do so. Doing so independently could disrupt your connection with our cloud servers.
If the DNS is having technical difficulties, it may be blocked from converting the domain name you are trying to reach into a usable IP address, in which case you are not able to use the intended website. When you bypass the DNS lookup in Arryved Service, it will tell all of the Arryved domain names to use the last IP address converted for that domain name instead of the DNS making that translation again. Therefore you will be able to use the website, such as Arryved Portal, while the DNS is down.
Open Arryved Service.
Login using a Labor Role with the Hardware Permission (usually a managerial role).
Tap STAFF at the top of the screen.
Tap Settings.
Under Networking, toggle the DNS Bypass lookup from Off to On.
Tap Done.
Swipe to close Arryved Service and then reopen it.
Place a test order to see if it’s working again.
You may need to swipe/close Arryved Service one or two more times.
Important: This is a temporary fix because the IP address will change eventually and no longer work even when bypassing the DNS. Typically, the DNS will not be down for long, so this trick should help in the interim. You will need to turn DNS Bypass off again later to return to normal and ensure proper transacting. Only do so when instructed by Arryved.
Open Arryved Service.
Login using a Labor Role with the Hardware permission (usually a managerial role).
Tap STAFF at the top of the screen.
Tap Settings.
Under Networking, toggle the DNS Bypass lookup from On to Off.
Tap Done.
Did you receive a notification from Arryved before turning on the DNS Bypass feature?
If so, did you turn off the DNS bypass feature when you were notified again?
