Arryved’s wireless POS devices bring ease to your service flows, but what happens when you can’t connect to the wireless network? When the WiFi goes down or there is an outage that’s out of our control, the thought of putting a halt to your business can be stressful. Luckily, you don’t have to sweat it with Arryved’s Offline Mode. You can continue to complete transactions in Arryved Service while offline. This article tells you everything you need to know about Arryved’s Offline Mode.
Before putting a device into Offline Mode, it’s essential that your Storage Permissions are enabled in the Android Settings. This allows the tab data created during Offline Mode to be saved in recovery files for backup.

To enable Offline Mode on a device in Arryved Service, you must be logged in with the HARDWARE Labor Role Permission.

Offline Mode is your uncanny fail-safe plan to continue business when you can’t connect to the network, but there are some things that just can’t be done without the oh-so-powerful internet. It’s essential to understand the limitations of Offline Mode before continuing.
When in Offline Mode, your POS devices don’t communicate with each other until back online. The device only remembers actions completed from that same device until actions are later synced across all devices.
Credit or debit card transactions are verified for funds after you exit Offline Mode and return online. Some payments may fail.
Employees can’t clock in or out when offline.
The BBPOS reader can't be used in Offline Mode because tap, dip, and Apply/Samsung Pay aren't supported. You must use a MagTek BLE reader to swipe cards in Offline Mode, or manually enter card numbers.
You won't be able to receive orders from OpenTab if there's no internet connection. If the guest's phone data can access the internet, they'll be able to place the order on their end, but you won't receive the orders on your end. It's advised to turn OpenTab ordering off when in Offline Mode.
Splitting and Merging tabs can’t be done in Offline Mode.
Gift cards can’t be sold or used for payment.
Changes made in your Arryved Portal won't update in Arryved Service while a device is in Offline Mode.
Orders placed while offline are timestamped with the time that they were synced when back online, not the actual time of the order. This could affect your tip pools if you use the Tips By Labor Hour With Timestamp By Order report. Contact Arryved Support to rectify those tabs for you and get them into the correct tip pools.
When in Offline Mode or syncing devices, don't attempt to tap the "Reset Service" button in the Arryved Service Settings. This will delete the history and actions won't sync.
Reminder! When a device is in Offline Mode, it only remembers the actions placed on that device until devices are later synced when back online. So, if you place an order on a tab on device A, devices B, C, and + won’t have that order show that order until later synced.
If possible, complete pay-as-you-go transactions rather than starting new tabs. At Arryved, we call these Quick Close transactions.
If possible, use only one POS device to start, add to, and close out tabs. Put away all other devices so they aren’t used accidentally.
We understand if you want to keep your service flow in place without alarming or inconveniencing guests, so If you need to use multiple devices in Offline Mode, staff should be helping their same guests using the same device. Actions and orders should not be placed on the same tab using different devices in Offline Mode.
Be sure to review the limitations and best practices above before entering a device into Offline Mode. When you’re ready,
Grab the POS device that you want to use in Offline Mode.
Open Arryved Service and log in.
Log in under a Labor Role with the HARDWARE Permission.
Tap STAFF at the top of the screen.
Tap Settings.
Scroll down and find the Offline Mode section.
Tap the toggle to the ON position.
Read the disclaimer and tap OK.
Cloud Icon
The cloud Icon on the top middle of the navigation bar checks network connectivity every 30 seconds and can tell you the status of your device.
The cloud is green if your network is good to go!
The cloud is red if there is poor or no network connection. You may see a red WiFi icon instead.
When a device is in Offline Mode, the cloud will have a black slash through it.
A half-yellow cloud with a black slash means you’re still in Offline Mode, but you can connect to the network again and have actions that need to be synced.
A half-green cloud with a black slash means you’re still in Offline Mode, but you can connect to the network again, but there aren’t any actions that need to be synced.
A full yellow cloud means your network is working properly again, and you’re out of Offline Mode, but you still have actions that are not yet synced.
Tab Colors
When a device is in Offline Mode, tabs on the TAB screen are color-coded differently.
A Tab highlighted in yellow is an active tab that has actions placed in Offline Mode and still needs to be synced with other devices.
A blue tab is a tab that was closed in Offline Mode and still needs to be synced with other devices.
When you see the cloud icon turn half green or half yellow, this means your network is working again. You can now sync your devices and leave Offline Mode.
