Epson KDS Hardware Setup (Multi-screen)

Epson KDS Hardware Setup (Multi-screen)

Overview

This article walks you through the steps to the physical setup of your KDS hardware. This is for multi-screen setup only.

Prerequisites

  1. You have begun with the KDS Setup Guide.

  2. You completed Step 1 and decided on multi-screen setup.

  3. You completed Step 2, reviewed the Hardware Checklist, and received your hardware.

Limitations

  • The printers, monitors, Bump Bars, and Expansion Modules are not wireless, they must be hardwired.

  • If your router is too far away to hardwire or does not have enough available ethernet ports for the amount of ethernet cables you have, then you must use an ethernet switch.

Multi-Screen Hardware Setup For KDS

Steps

  1. Plug the printer into a power outlet.

  2. Use an ethernet cable to connect the printer to the router or switch (switch will need to be ethernet connected to the router).

  3. Plug the monitor into a power outlet.

  4. Use a VGA cable to connect the printer to the first monitor.

  5. Use a USB cable to connect the printer to the first bump bar.

  6. Use an ethernet cable to connect the router or switch to the first expansion module (or second printer).

  7. Use a VGA cable to connect the expansion module (or second printer) to the second monitor.

  8. Use a USB cable to connect the expansion module (or second printer) to the second bump bar.

  9. Repeat steps 6-8 for additional monitors and bump bars.

  10.  Make sure POS and PC are on the same network as the router (if using a PC).

  11.  On the front side of the printer, find the power switch and turn the printer on.

  12.  The printer will spit out a status sheet. Keep it or record the Printer’s IP address on the status sheet, you will need it to connect your KDS in Arryved Portal.

  13.  Repeat steps 11-12 for any additional printers.

  14.  If using any Expansion Modules, find the power switch in the back and turn it on. See the IP address appear on the monitor and record that Expansion Module’s IP address.

Gut Check!

Your hardware is set up! Double check your cables are connected and your wireless network is working.
