How To Exit Offline Mode And Sync Devices

What Is Offline Mode?

Arryved’s wireless POS devices bring ease to your service flows, but what happens when you can’t connect to the wireless network? When the WiFI goes down or there is an outage that’s out of our control, the thought of putting a halt to your business can be stressful. Luckily, you don’t have to sweat it with Arryved’s Offline Mode. You can continue to complete transactions in Arryved Service while offline.

Once the WiFi is back in action, you can put the device back online and allow it to talk to the other devices again. This article shows you how to take a device out of Offline Mode and sync its tabs with your other POS devices.

Prerequisites

  • Read Offline Mode Overview

  • You have a device that’s in Offline Mode.

  • Your WiFi network is working again.

    • if you see a half-yellow or half-green cloud icon at the top of the screen in Arryved Service, this means your device can connect to the network.

  • To toggle Offline Mode on or off and sync actions, you need to be logged in to Arryved Service with the HARDWARE Labor Role Permission.

Limitations

  • You’ll need to sync your Offline Mode actions from each device that was in Offline Mode.

  • Credit or debit card transactions can’t be verified for funds when collected in Offline Mode so some payments may fail when the device goes back online.

  • Orders placed while offline are timestamped with the time that they were synced when back online, not the actual time of the order. This could affect your tip pools if you use the Tips By Labor Hour With Timestamp By Order report. Contact Arryved Support to rectify those tabs for you and get them into the correct tip pools.

  • When in Offline Mode or syncing devices, don't attempt to tap the "Reset Service" button in the Arryved Service Settings. This will delete the history and actions won't sync.

  • Re-Syncing devices can take up to a few seconds per action, so depending on how many actions need to sync, this could take some time.

    • To avoid any data conflict during the syncing process, use a device that’s online to start new tabs for each guest. If a guest already has a tab going during Offline Mode, you can merge the new tab and the Offline Mode tabs together when the sync is complete.

  • Printers can’t go into Offline Mode, so if your network is down, tickets and receipts won’t print.

    • When your WiFi is back, and you exit Offline Mode, all pending print jobs will print. If you don’t need these additional printed tickets, use the Flush Tasks button in the Arryved Service settings to clear the print jobs before leaving Offline Mode.

How It Works

When a device is in Offline Mode, it only remembers the actions placed on that device until devices are later synced when back online.

Sync Devices

Before exiting Offline Mode on a device, you’ll need to sync its actions first.

  1. Grab a POS device that’s in Offline Mode.

  2. Open Arryved Service and log in.

    • Log in under a Labor Role with the HARDWARE Permission.

  3. Tap STAFF at the top of the screen.

  4. Tap Settings.

  5. Scroll down and find the Offline Mode section.

  6. tap the Sync button.

  1. Tap Start.

  2. Wait until there are 0 actions left to sync and tap Done

It’s very important to sync all actions that were placed while in Offline Mode when it’s time to go back online. Otherwise, transaction data will be lost. Please don’t use any of the following three buttons unless instructed to do so by an Arryved Team Member.

  • The Stop button will stop the sync in its place.

  • Skip will move to the next action without syncing the one you’re skipping.

  • Step will move to the next action while continuing to sync the action you’re stepping over.

Flush Tasks

If your WiFi was down, your printers were offline too. When they’ve connected to the WiFi again, they’ll print any pending print jobs from POS devices that are put back online. You may have hand-written or verbally called-out orders while offline and not feel the need to have the printed tickets later on. To avoid a plethora of unwanted printed tickets, flush the tasks from the POS device before leaving Offline Mode.

  1. From Arryved Service, tap STAFF from the top navigation bar.

  2. Tap Settings.

  3. Scroll down and tap Flush Tasks

  4. Tap Done.

If you do want the printed tickets, skip this step.

Offline Mode → OFF

  1. From the Settings on the STAFF screen in Arryved Service, find the Offline Mode section.

  2. Tap the toggle from the ON position to the OFF position.

  3. Tap Done.

  4. Tap the TAB screen, then tap the refresh button in the bottom right corner.

    • You’ll see the tab highlights change colors from yellow and blue (open/closed) to gray and green. This means the tabs are synced across all devices and you’re back online!
