Updates to our existing products and features
Many of you have asked, and we answered: we’ve eliminated the most common friction points from OpenTab, our mobile ordering platform! OpenTab’s new ordering flow makes it easier for guests to quickly view your menu, place an order, or claim an already-existing tab. Here’s what’s changed:
One of the biggest headaches for guests using OpenTab was being prompted to enter payment info right off the bat. Asking for payment upfront leads to guests jumping ship before being enticed to stay by your mouth-watering menu.
Now, guests are only prompted to enter payment info once they attempt to place their first order. This allows them to get excited about your menu first so they feel more comfortable entering payment to place the order they have their hearts set on.
If your OpenTab Welcome Message mentions anything about starting a tab right away, you’ll want to update it in your OpenTab Settings.
*The image to the right is the new Welcome Screen in OpenTab. This is the first screen that guests see after they scan the QR code. Notice that their only options are to see the menu or find their existing tab. No option to start a new tab, yet.
In the OpenTab Settings in your Arryved Portal, there is now a new, 4th option available to select under the ‘Who are you selling to and what are you selling them’ setting.
You can now select ‘Show all menu items to everyone’.
Selecting this option disables the age gate in OpenTab altogether. Meaning, guests won’t be asked if they are 21+ after scanning an OpenTab QR code.
Please note: The ‘Check ID’ tag is still printed on tickets from OpenTab at all times so that staff know to check IDs before serving alcohol. and we encourage you to follow best practices under the law.
This new setting reduces friction by eliminating an entire step upfront, getting guests to the menu faster!
*Below is a comparison between the old OpenTab Welcome Screen and the new one. Notice that the age gate is now in a popup window, rather than living on the screen itself. If the ‘Show all menu items to everyone’ setting is set, then the popup won’t appear at all.
Tab Claiming is a feature within OpenTab that allows guests to claim a tab they already have started, by searching for one that has a matching name and card number. Once claimed, the guest can continue to order off the same tab or close it out via OpenTab.
Guests can now search for their existing tab themselves right from the Welcome Screen using the ‘Find my tab’ button. This way, the worry warts won’t have to worry about the tab they left open at the bar and can take care of it right away!
If the guest skips this step and goes straight to the menu instead, but they do have an existing tab, then they’ll still be prompted to claim it later down the road when they enter payment info to place an order.
Lastly, we’ve continually updated the style of the OpenTab screens. They’re more modern in design, user-friendly, and accessible. If you have OpenTab set up at your establishment, find a QR code, give it a test, and take a look!
