OpenTab by Arryved empowers guests to self-order and view digital menus with QR code technology. With self-ordering, guests can seamlessly place orders from their phones and enjoy multiple rounds at their leisure.
If the self-ordering feature isn’t the right fit for your business, OpenTab can be used for viewing digital menus alone. This article provides full detail on each of the OpenTab Settings in your Arryved Portal so you can fully customize OpenTab to best serve your business.
You’ve already contacted Arryved Support to enable OpenTab for your Location. The OpenTab Settings won’t be visible in your Portal if OpenTab isn’t enabled.
You must create your OpenTab Venue first.
If you haven’t created this Venue yet, Read the OpenTab Overview guide and select a setup process from there. You can come back to these settings later.
You must be an Arryved Portal Super Admin to adjust the OpenTab Settings.
Your OpenTab Settings live in your Arryved Portal.
Head to your Arryved Portal.
From the left side navigation, click Location Settings.
Click OpenTab Settings.
Use the guidelines below to learn about each OpenTab Setting.
Settings with an Asterisk* are required. Everything else is optional for extra customization.
How are you going to use OpenTab? For guest self-ordering? Or simply for menu viewing? Choose one of the options from the dropdown:
Enable Menus and Ordering: This allows guests to view menus, start a tab, place orders, and pay the bill from their mobile phones, via QR code scan.
Enable Menus Only: This will only allow guests to view the menu when they scan a QR code.
Disable Menus and Ordering: If you currently have Menus and Ordering enabled, this will quickly disable the guest self-ordering feature.
Check the box you can quickly turn OpenTab ordering off temporarily. This only works for "Enable Menus and Ordering".
You’ll need to select the OpenTab Venue you created during your OpenTab setup.
If you haven’t created this Venue yet, Read the OpenTab Overview guide and select a setup process from there. You can come back to these settings later.
Use the OpenTab schedule to the add time frames you’d like OpenTab to be available for guests. Even if you want to use OpenTab all the time, we strongly recommend you add the days and times your business is open so a QR code left on the patio doesn’t have someone sending orders in the middle of the night, for example.
Here’s how the OpenTab Schedule works,
There can be multiple time frames in a single day.
Time frames can bleed into the next day (after midnight).
Time frames can’t overlap each other, but one can end and the other begin on the same minute.
Check the box to use your Inventory Items’ images for those items in OpenTab.
These are the images that appear in your Arryved Online Store and were uploaded in your Arryved Portal on the Inventory Item pages.
They will be visible to guests viewing the menu or ordering through an OpenTab QR code.
Choose an accent color for OpenTab. Some text and areas will be highlighted in this color.
Enter the maximum number of items a guest can place in a single order through OpenTab’s self-ordering system. This is optional.
We offer age restrictions for OpenTab because guests can order without staff present. Choose one of the options in the dropdown.
Sell to everyone, but non-alcoholic items only (alcoholic items won't appear on your OpenTab menus at all)
Sell to everyone, exclude alcohol to minors (If the guest confirms they are under 21 from the age gate, then they'll only see non-alcoholic items on the menu)
Show all menu items to everyone (the age gate won't appear in OpenTab at all. Meaning, guests won't be asked to confirm their age)
Only sell to over 21 (If the guest confirms they are under 21 from the age gate, then they won't be able to view your menu at all or place orders)
This custom message appears as soon as the OpenTab QR code is scanned.
Leave the box unchecked to allow guests to add notes for modifications on their order. Check the box if you want to deny guests this ability.
If you allow notes, a text box appears when items are added to their cart. Enter a custom message that appears in the text box to instruct the guests what to write there.
This custom message appears after the guest has placed an order.
This feature is not in function at this time, skip this Setting.
This custom message appears after a guest has closed their tab.
Check this box if you want a custom banner image across the top of each screen in OpenTab.
OpenTab will use your Location Assets under the Arryved Online and OpenTab section, Including this Background Header Image. If you want OpeTab to have a different image here than your Arryved Online store, you can override the image here. Be sure to look at the size requirements.
This will put a 50% opacity white (light) or black (dark) overlay across your banner image.
OpenTab will use your main Logo / Load Icon from your Location Assets as the main branding for OpenTab unless you override it here.
