How To Create Flights In Arryved Portal

What Is a Flight?

A Flight is a grouped offering of menu items from one Item Type. Flights can be anything from beer, cider, spirits, tacos, sliders, etc! This article will show you how to create and customize a Flight in Arryved Portal using the Flight Item Tag.

Prerequisites

  • To create a Flight you must have Unit Sizes and Item Types created.

  • The individual Items in the Flight exist in your inventory with proper Unit Sizes and Item Types assigned.

Limitations

  • Flights are between 2 and 8 options.

  • Flights can't have Modifiers or Forced Modifiers.

  • Flight options populate a list from one of your Item Types. A Flight can only pull from 1 Item Type, and the entire Item Type will be the list.

  • Flights will print to 1 printer. Individual Flight items cannot print to different printers. 

  • In Arryved reporting, Flights are recorded as a single Item when sold. The individual child Items sold within the Flight are also individually reported. Keep this in mind and beware of double-reporting on Flights in your taxes.

  • The order in which the Flight items print on a ticket is determined by a Location Preference that can be adjusted by an Arryved Support Specialist.

How It Works

You'll create an Inventory Item to be the Flight as a whole. The Individual Flight options should already exist as their own Inventory Items. Adding the Flight Item Tag to the Inventory Item tells the system that this item is a Flight and unlocks the Flight Tool where you'll customize the Flight offering.

  1. Head to your Arryved Portal.

  2. From the left side navigation, click Inventory.

  3. Click on an Inventory Folder for the Flight to live in, or create a new folder if desired.

  4. Click New Item + to create a new Flight.

  5. Follow the basic steps for Inventory Item creation.

  6. Use Printer Override if you want the Flight to print to a different destination than the one assigned to the Item Type.

  7. Scroll down to the Tags dropdown and click to release that field. 

  8. From the Tags dropdown, select Flight.





  1. Once you add the Flight Item Tag, the Flight Settings will appear. Use the dropdowns to customize your flight. 

  2. Click Save when you are finished. 

Combo Type

Choose one selection from the Combo Type dropdown to establish a flight type.



Choose Any # From The List

The top third section of options are, Choose any # from the list. This Flight type allows the guest to pick a set number of options from the list. The list contains Inventory Items from one Item Type. The price of the flight will vary depending on the guest’s choices.

  1. Important! If you are using a choose any # from the list option, set the price of the whole Flight to $0.00 under the Costs section in the Inventory Item.

Choose Any # From The List For a Set Price

The middle third chunk of options are, Choose any # from the list for a set price. This Flight type allows the guest to pick a set # of options from the list for one price. The list contains inventory Items from one Item Type.

  1. Important! If you are using a choose any # from the list for a set price option, set the price of the whole Flight under the Costs section in the Inventory Item.

Preset # of Beers For a Set Price 

The bottom third chunk of options are, Preset # of beers for a set price. Ignore the word beer, Flights can be anything. This Flight type will have preset items for a set price. The guest will not be able to choose the Flight options. If you select a preset Flight, a 4th box will appear labeled Inventory Items, where you can select the preset items.

  • Important! If you are using a preset option, set the price of the whole Flight under the Costs section in the Inventory Item. 

Grouping Size

This dropdown will show all of your Unit Sizes. Select a size for the individual Flight items. 

Grouping Type

This dropdown will show all of your Item Types. Select an Item Type to form the list of options for the Flight.

Inventory Item

This field is only visible if you selected a preset Flight type. In the Inventory Item field, begin to type the names of the Inventory Items for the preset Flight. When you see the Inventory Item name you want, click on it to select it. If you choose a preset Flight of 4, then select exactly 4 items, etc.
