Network success is vital to the success of any business, especially those using a fair amount of technology. If your business is onboarding with Arryved for the first time, setting up a brand new network, or has made recent changes to your network, testing your network strength is imperative! Follow the steps in this article to perform a network analysis and send the results to your Implementation Manager.
Have your Macbook computer handy.
Connect your Mac to the WiFi network you’ll be using on your Arryved POS devices.
These instructions are for a Macbook (Mac OS). iPhone (iOS) isn’t supported, but we also have instructions for Android.
Please use a portable Macbook, a desktop computer won’t allow you to walk around and test the WiFi signal in various areas.
If network knowledge isn’t your expertise, you’ll likely need to involve an IT/Network specialist in this process.
A strong network connection is essential because we’re about to have a bunch of devices connected to the WiFi at once. Not to mention your guests’ mobile devices too if you’re offering guest WiFi! The last thing we want to happen is a disruption of business and good times due to poor network health.
WiFi strength is measured in dBm (a.k.a RSSI, a.k.a. the signal). On a Macbook, it’s super easy to find your WiFi dBm.
Hold the option key on your keyboard and click the WiFi icon on the top right side of your screen.
Look for the RSSI. A strong and healthy WiFi lives between -30 dBm and -60 dBm.
Walk around your establishment, and cover any ground where you plan on using Arryved devices or printers. The RSSI will change as you move around.
Contact your IT specialist for a diagnostic if your signal falls outside the -30 dBm to -60 dBm range. You’ll want to resolve any issues before continuing your business operations.
To help better serve your network needs in the future, your Implementation Manager wants to keep a record of your network analysis. Take a screenshot of your network information just like the image above, and send it along!
Hold the option key on your keyboard and click the WiFi icon on the top right side of your screen.
Press command + Shift + 4 altogether on your keyboard to take a screenshot. Click and drag over the WiFi information to capture the screenshot.
Make sure the IP Address, Channel, BSSID, and RSSI are visible in the image.
Send the screenshot to your Implementation Manager if you have their email handy, or to the general team at customersuccess@arryved.com.
