OpenTab Order Flow

OpenTab Order Flow

What Is OpenTab?

OpenTab by Arryved empowers guests to self-order and/or view digital menus with QR code technology. With self-ordering, guests can seamlessly place orders from their phone, and enjoy multiple rounds at their leisure. This article will show you how the OpenTab self-ordering flow looks from the guests’ point of view.

Prerequisites

  • The guest needs a smartphone with a camera to scan the OpenTab QR code. Some phone cameras can’t scan QR codes, in which case, a QR code reader app is needed instead.

  • Because guests will be using their own smartphones to order through OpenTab, It is strongly recommended to have a separate WiFi network for your guests to use.

Limitations

  • This article describes the order flow for OpenTab’s self-ordering feature. If you have OpenTab setup for digital menu viewing only, guests aren’t able to self-order.

  • If a guest wants to pay with cash or a different card than the one on file, they will need a staff member to do so in Arryved Service. They can’t achieve this through OpenTab.

How It Works

If you are working with OpenTab, there are QR codes placed around your establishment for guests to scan with their smartphones. When the QR code is scanned, the guest can either start a tab and place orders or simply view the digital menu. Below are the steps the guest will go through to start a tab and place their order from their smartphone’s web browser.

1. The guest scans a QR code that is unique to their table number, and the menu in this QR code is unique to the Venue.

2. If you have an age gate enabled in your OpenTab Settings, then the guest will first be prompted to confirm their age.

3. Guests have the option to start by claiming an existing tab they may have started at the bar or with a staff member by selecting the 'Find my tab' button. Or, they can head straight to the menu and start a new tab once an order is placed.

4. If the guest chooses to see the menu, they can browse and add items to their order.

5. When ready, the guest will review their order before sending it through!

6. When the guest attempts to place their first order, they are then prompted to enter payment info to start a tab. But first, they'll need to enter a phone number for verification.

7. After payment is entered, the guest will confirm their location (table number) and place the order.

8. The guest can then continue to place orders under the tab they just opened and payout when ready.

9. When it's time to pay, the guest can leave a tip and close out under the same card number they entered previously.

10. The guest then has the option to email themselves the final receipt.
