Does your business offer a full bar? Or maybe a few mouth-watering house cocktail recipes? In your Arryved Portal, you can create your bar offering using Inventory Items and Modifiers. Use this guide to learn how to add liquor and cocktails to your Arryved Menus.
To create or edit Inventory Items and Modifiers, you must be an Arryved Portal Super Admin or an Admin with one of the following Portal permissions:
INVENTORY

FULL ADMIN
Modifiers do not track measurements of liquor (such as ounces or milliliters). For this reason, we advise you to enter your liquor brands as Inventory Items rather than Modifiers if you’d like to keep track of your liquor pours.
Items on printed prep tickets can’t be color-coded. Tickets always print Modifiers with an upcharge in red, and everything else is in black ink.
Liquor choices and cocktails are added to your Arryved menus using Inventory Items, Item Modifiers, and Modifier Groups. There are a few different ways to go about this, so please consider what’s best for your business and service model.
For a full bar that offers an array of liquor choices, consider creating each liquor as an Inventory Item.
But first, make sure you have an appropriate Tax Type for your liquor.
And, to keep everything organized, create an Item Type for each liquor category.
Then, create the Unit Sizes you’ll be serving.
Once all that is done, create an Inventory Item for each liquor brand you stock.
Next, you can create Item Modifiers for any necessary modifications or add-ons. Here are some examples:
Neat / On the rocks
Shaken / Stirred
Chilled
Salt rim / Sugar rim / No rim
Mixer choices
Lime Wedge / Lemon Twist / Orange Peel / Cherry / Other garnishes
Reminder! Item Modifiers always require search hints, which are keywords that help you locate the Modifier in a search through the POS. And, don’t forget to add a Price if there’s an upcharge for it.
For those ‘you-call-it’ drinks such as Gin & Tonic, Vodka Soda, and Whisky Ginger, we recommend creating a 2 oz pour Unit Size and adding that to each of your liquor Inventory Items.
Don’t forget to enter a measurement in the ‘Size Quantity Value’ field when creating the Unit Size if you want to track your ounces, milliliters, etc.
Consider creating a ‘Double’ (4 oz) Unit Size, too, if needed.
Create Item Modifiers for each mixer.
Put those mixer Item Modifiers into a 'Drink Mixer' Modifier Group. Make the Group required (give it a Default Min of 1 or more) so that the Modifier Screen automatically prompts when a liquor pour is ordered.
Maybe you want to make another Modifier Group for additional garnishes or add-ons, too.
Add the Modifier Group(s) to each liquor brand.
Pro tip! For faster entry, you can Clone your Inventory Items, and it’ll copy any added Modifier Groups with it.
For classic cocktails, you know, your Old Fashioneds, Martinis, and Negronis, etc., there are two options for getting those on your menu.
If you’d like to track your liquor pours (such as ounces or milliliters), we recommend using the same method as the call drinks mentioned above, using the ‘2 oz’ and ‘Double’ Unit Sizes on your liquor Items.
You can even get creative and create a new ‘Classic Cocktail’ Unit Size. Remember, measurements are tracked by a Unit Size’s ‘Size Quantity Value’, not by the name of the size.
For example, order a ‘Classic’ size of your ‘House Gin’ item, and select ‘Negroni’ as the Modifier. (see example below).
*Please advise that this flow will be easy for your staff to catch onto in Arryved Service, but may not be an intuitive way for guests to order through Arryved Online or OpenTab.
You can apply Modifier Groups to specific Sizes of an Item. Maybe you want your classic cocktail size to have cocktail Modifiers while your 2 oz and 4 oz sizes have well mixers and garnish Modifiers.
If you don’t care to track your liquor pours, there’s an easier way to add classic cocktails to your menus. Simply create the cocktails themselves as Inventory Items. Create a new ‘Cocktails’ Item Type, too.
Item Modifiers will be the choice of liquor.
Use upcharges for higher-quality liquor options.
Use Modifier Groups to make ordering easy.
For example, make a ‘Gin” Modifier Group with your gin brands as the Item Modifiers. Then, when a ‘Negroni’ is ordered, the Modifier Screen will pull up the gin options.
If you’ve whipped up some mouth-watering in-house cocktail recipes, like the classic cocktails, there are two options:
To track liquor pours, you know the drill, order through the liquor Inventory Items, and use the 2oz/double Unit Sizes or create a new ‘House Cocktail’ Unit Size.
Additionally, create Item Modifiers for each of your house cocktails.
For Example, your house Habanero Margarita, Watermelon Paloma, and Mango Vampiro can be the Item Modifier selections for your tequila liquor. Roll those into a Modifier Group to make it easy on staff.
If you don’t care to track your liquor pours, simply create the house cocktails as Inventory Items. This method is easiest for staff to quickly place orders and is more intuitive for guests ordering Arryved Online or OpenTab.
Pro Tip!: If you’re selling cocktails through Arryved Online or OpenTab, we encourage you to add Display Information, including an image and description, so that guests who are self-ordering are enticed to purchase!
Since these are typically set-in-stone recipes, you may not need any Modifiers for them, but if you do offer any modifications, be sure to create those as Item Modifiers. Here are some examples of possible modifications for house cocktails:
No rim
No garnish
Large ice cube
Required Modifier Groups can be used if you require the guest to make a choice when they order a certain cocktail.
For example, your Habanero Margarita may have a choice of salt, sugar, Tajin, or no rim.
Once you’re all set up, run a few test orders to see if the flow is to your liking. Don’t hesitate to reach out to your Implementation Manager or our award-winning Support Team for assistance.
