Generally speaking, "Modifiers" are customizations or adjustments that your guests can request for their food and drink. They can also provide special instructions to your kitchen or bar to prepare their menu items as requested.
In your Arryved POS, “Item Modifiers” are the individual modifications you'd like to offer for your Menu Items. Use this guide to learn how to create the Item Modifiers that fit your business.
To create or edit Item Modifiers, you must be an Arryved Portal Super Admin or an Admin with one of the following Portal permissions:
INVENTORY
ALL ACCESS
FULL ADMIN
Arryved does not support nested modifiers at this time. Meaning, Modifiers can’t be modified themselves.
Modifiers are not tracked by Inventory Quantity.
When creating individual Item Modifiers, consider the various components of your Menu Items that need to be customized by the guest or are commonly requested to be added, removed, or substituted. Also, consider any important notes, allergies, or prep instructions that the bar and kitchen often need to know.
Condiment options (Ketchup, BBQ)
Protein options (Chicken, Tofu)
Cheese options (Cheddar, Swiss)
Side options (Fries, Side Salad)
Toppings (Pepperoni, Tomato)
Drink garnishes (Salt Rim, Lemon Twist)

Meat temperatures (rare, medium rare)
Prep instructions (cut in half, toasted, tossed)
P.S. In Arryved Service, you can always use Modifier Notes to hand-type a less common request, or anything else you may need to include on a ticket that isn’t an Item Modifier in your Arryved Portal. Use Item Modifiers for your most common requests or any required customizations.
Head to your Arryved Portal.
From the left side navigation, click Inventory.
Click Modifiers.
From the bottom of the list, click +Create New Modifier.
Fill out the fields to customize the Item Modifier. Learn more about each field below.
Click Save.
Pro Tip! After you save a Modifier, use the Clone button to duplicate it so you can create similar Modifiers quickly!
Active: This Item Modifier is in stock and available for sale/use.
Out (Kicked): This Item Modifier is in circulation but temporarily out of stock until replenished. ‘Kicked’ Modifiers are greyed out in Arryved Service to communicate that they’re currently unavailable.
Inactive: This Item Modifier is unavailable indefinitely. Inactive Modifiers do not appear in your POS ordering channels.
2) Modifier Group(s): Conveniently add this Item Modifier to any of your Modifier Groups from here. If you haven’t created the Modifier Group you need for this Item Modifier yet, no worries, you can take care of it from the Modifier Group page later.
3) Modifier Name: Give this Item Modifier a name that will be displayed in your POS ordering modalities.
4) Search Hints: Add a few keywords that will help pull up this Modifier in a search. Separate each one with a comma.
5) Ticket Display Name: Create a shortened name for this Item Modifier that will appear on printed tickets and KDS order tiles.
6) Type: At this time, only the Temperature Type has an action. The other Types are not in use. Selecting Temperature as the Type makes that Item Modifier appear first on a printed ticket. It’ll also be color-coded in blue in Arryved Service. We recommend adding this type to your meat temperature Item Modifiers, but you can use it for any of them for your own reasoning.
7) Price: If this Item Modifier has an upcharge, enter the price of the upcharge here.
If the upcharge price varies depending on the Item it’s added to, then enter the highest possible price here, and it can be adjusted on a per-item basis, using the ‘Price Floor’ tool on the Inventory Item page.
