Running food service in a busy taproom is no small feat, so we’ve built Enhanced Modifiers to make things faster, easier, and smoother for your staff. Use this guide to see how Modifiers have changed in your Arryved POS.
To turn on Enhanced Modifiers in your POS, here’s what you need to do:
Make sure Arryved Service is updated to version 2.16.3 or higher on all of your POS devices. How To Update Arryved Service.
Turn on the “Enable Modifiers V2” Location Preference in your Arryved Portal:
Log into Arryved Portal as a Super Admin.
From the left side navigation, click Location Settings.
Click Location Preferences.
Under the ‘Modifiers’ section, check the box next to ‘Enable Modifiers V2’.
Click Save.
Modifiers are not nested, meaning you can’t modify a modifier.
Modifiers are not tracked by inventory quantity.
How It Works
Here’s what’s new with Modifiers:
“Forced Modifiers” are now Modifier Groups.
Better tools when assigning Modifier Groups to Items
Modifiers in Arryved Service got a makeover
Modifiers can be 86’d
Modifying made easier in OpenTab & Arryved Online
Better tools for Item Modifier management
In your Arryved Portal, “Forced Modifiers” are now called “Modifier Groups.” The only real difference here is that Modifier Groups can now be either Required or Optional.
Give a Modifier Group a Default Min of 1 or more to make it Required.
Give a Modifier Group a Default Min of 0 to make it Optional.
Only Required Modifier Groups will auto-prompt the Modifier Screen in Arryved Service when an Item is ordered (just like Forced Modifiers used to). Required selections must be made from the Required Modifier Groups before the Item can be added to an order.
Optional Modifier Groups can be added to Items for convenience when ordering but aren’t required to select from.
IMPORTANT! When Enhanced Modifiers are enabled, any of your old “Forced Modifiers” with a Min of 1 or more will be converted into Required Modifier Groups. Be sure to make any adjustments, if necessary.
Modifier Groups can be added to Inventory Itefs, so they appear on the Modifiers Screen for staff ordering in Arryved Service and are presented to guests when ordering in OpenTab and Arryved Online (just like when you used to add Forced Modifiers to Inventory Items). Here’s what’s new:
Selecting an Item Modifier as the Price Floor is now optional. Leave the field at ‘Select Price Floor’ to select nothing. You no longer need a dummy modifier to fulfill this requirement when a Price Floor is not needed!
If you’re applying a Modifier Group to a specific Size of the Item, it will now apply to that size on your Arryved Online and OpenTab Menus, too!
Click and drag the 6 dots to the left of Modifier Groups to rearrange the order. How they appear here is how they’ll appear to staff in Arryved Service and guests ordering through OpenTab or Arryved Online.
Note: Required Modifier Groups will always be in the top row and Optional Groups underneath.
A new “Allow Service to Apply Any Modifier?” setting allows you to restrict the Modifiers that can be applied to an Item
If enabled, any of your Item Modifiers can be applied to this Item when it’s ordered in Arryved Service by using the search bar on the Modifier Screen (this setting is enabled by default).
If disabled, only Modifiers in the Modifier Groups assigned to this Inventory Item can be applied to it when ordered. Other Item Modifiers will not appear in search on the Modifiers Screen.
Disabling this setting lets you control what modifiers can be applied to an Item and what can’t. If you disable this setting, be sure to add all the Modifier Groups you want to allow.
Say goodbye to the old, short Modifiers Window and say hello to the new fullscreen view! More space to make more decisions in one single place, speeding up your service! Here are some of the major changes to the Modifiers Screen in Arryved Service:
Any Modifier Groups that have been assigned to an Item will appear on the new Modifiers Screen (with a sleek new fullscreen view) when that Item is ordered.
Only Required Modifier Groups will automatically prompt the screen when ordered.
If an item has one or more required modifier groups, it can only be added to the order once all of its requirements are fulfilled.
Optional Modifier Groups will appear on the screen for convenience but are not required to select from.
If the Item only has Optional Modifier Groups or no Modifier Groups assigned to it, then it'll be added to an order directly without prompting the Modifiers Screen first. If the guest wants to modify the Item, they can simply tap on it to open the Modifiers Screen as they’ve always done. View the Optional Groups or use the search bar to look for other Item Modifiers.
All Modifier Groups assigned to the Item are visible on the Modifier Screen at once. The staff member can tap on any Group to open it and make a selection; they don’t have to go in any particular order. This allows staff to add modifications in the order that the guest is speaking.
New color-coding to help staff see an overview of the order in just a quick glance.
Green: Anything being added to the order, including required and optional selections and upcharges or no upcharges.
Red: Anything with the ‘No’ prefix.
Purple: Anything with the ‘Sub’ prefix.
Yellow: A handwritten note.
Blue: Item Modifiers configured with ‘Temperature’ selected as the ‘Type’ (these appear first on a printed ticker).
From the INV screen in Arryved Service, users can kick Modifiers that are currently unavailable so they can’t be ordered. When a Modifier has been restocked, users can make it available again from the same screen.
Required and Optional Modifier Groups are clearly presented to guide guests through the right choices when ordering through OpenTab and Arryved Online.
We added a few enhancements to the Item Modifiers page in your Arryved Portal, too.
Add Item Modifiers to Modifier Groups instantly
Clone Item Modifiers for faster entry
Use the new search bar to jump to the Item Modifier you need
Sort columns Ascending or Descending
