If you’ve purchased a pre-configured printer from Arryved, use this guide to self-install the printer and get it connected to your Arryved POS.
Have the physical printer, paper roll, and ink ribbon (if needed) handy.
If using the hard-wired Ethernet approach (instead of WiFi), please note that you must provide your own Ethernet cable for each printer, it isn’t included with the printer purchase.
If you haven’t already, please provide your network login credentials to your Implementation Manager.
If you haven’t done so already in your Arryved onboarding, please test your WiFi Strength before setting up a wireless printer.
To complete the steps in this guide you must be an Arryved Portal Super Admin or an Admin with one of the following Permissions:

Unbox the printer and plug it in

Add the printer to your Arryved Portal
Test printer connection
Once you’ve received your pre-configured printer,
Take it out of the box and remove all packaging.
Find the two-piece power cable, and assemble it into one piece.
Plug in the power cord.
Plug the circular end of the power cord into the circular port in the back of the printer. Plug the other end of it into a power outlet.
Attach the WiFi Dongle (if going wireless).
If your printer is wireless, there’s a WiFi dongle wrapped in a smaller box. The dongle looks like an old school flash drive.
Unwrap it and stick the USB end into the USB port on the back of the printer. Make sure the printer is turned off when you do this.
Plug in the Ethernet cord (if going hard-wired).
If your printer is to be hard-wired, grab an Ethernet cable, plug one end into the Ethernet port on the back of the printer and the other end in an Ethernet port on your router, switch, or wall.
Throw away excess pieces
There are two spacers included in the box. You can toss them, you won’t need them. They’re used to support a smaller paper size, however, Arryved’s ticket system isn’t compatible with the smaller paper.
There also may be a small piece of plastic meant to cover the power button on the printer. This helps protect the button from food and drink splashing. You can attach it or throw it away.
Remove the bottom panel
From the back of the printer, remove the bottom panel to expose the ports. Place your finger under the gap in the panel at the bottom to easily pull it off.
You can keep the panel off permanently for easy access to the ports or you can attach it again once everything is plugged in.
Check on the WiFi Dongle (if going wireless)
- If your printer is wireless, the WiFi dongle should be attached to the back already. It looks like an old school flash drive. Make sure its pushed into the USB port all the way.
Plug in the Ethernet cord (if going hard-wired)
- If your printer is to be hard-wired, grab an Ethernet cable, plug one end into the Ethernet port on the back of your printer and the other end in an Ethernet port on your router, switch, or wall.
*The image above shows an Epson thermal printer for receipts and bar tickets. The Epson impact printer for kitchens has the same ports and pinhole, but there is no bottom panel to remove.
Grab the paper (and ink ribbon if needed) for this printer. Remove any packaging.
Open the paper chamber by lifting the grey latch on the top of the printer upward.
Load the paper (and ink ribbon if needed).
Make sure the paper is facing the right direction (see example image below).
Twist the knob on the ink cartridge to tighten the ink ribbon before placing it in.
Close the paper chamber.
Press the feed button on the printer and see if it comes out properly.
Here’s what type of paper and ink ribbon you need for each printer type for when it’s time to restock:
Epson TM-m30II (Wireless & Ethernet) / TM-T20ii (Ethernet) / TM-88V (Ethernet)
Thermal paper: 3 ⅛” x 230”
Epson TM-U22OB (Wireless & Ethernet)
Single Ply or 2-ply paper: 3” x 90”
Ink Ribbon: ERC-38 (black, black/red) (0.55” x 0.63” x 0.67”)
Now that the printer is plugged in, turned on, and loaded with paper, you can print a chit sheet that’ll tell you its IP Address:
Grab a pen, paper clip, or other pointy object.
Turn the printer upside down and find a small pinhole labeled ‘SW’ (or ‘MS’ depending on which direction you’re looking at it).
Press your pointy object into the pinhole and hold it for a few seconds until a small sheet prints out.
On the chit sheet, find the numbers next to the ‘IP address’.
Keep the sheet handy, you’ll need the IP address for the next step.
With the printer’s IP address handy, add the printer to your Arryved Portal in the Merchant Peripherals section. This is how it connects to your Arryved POS system.
Head to your Arryved Portal.
From the left side navigation bar, click Devices.
Click Merchant Peripherals.
Fill out the fields accordingly and enter the IP address from the printed sheet into the Hardware ID field.
Read How To Enter Merchant Peripherals if you need a refresher.
Let’s make sure the above steps worked! Send a test print using the guide below:
Make sure your receipt (thermal) printer’s firmware is up to date.
