In your Arryved Online Store, you can add gift cards to your online menu offering. You’ll need to create gift cards with predetermined amounts as new Inventory Items in your Arryved Portal and add them to your online menus. When a gift card is purchased online, you’ll load its balance in Arryved Service and then deliver it to the purchaser. Use this guide to learn how to add gift cards to your Arryved Online menus and how to fulfill an online gift card order.
You must have an Arryved Online Store.
You must have a gift card item set up in Arryved Service.
Selling gift cards in your Arryved Online Store is different than “e-gift cards’. You’ll be selling physical (not digital) cards.
The purchaser of the online gift card must have the physical gift card delivered or shipped to them, or come pick it up at your establishment.
Here’s the general idea:
Create incremental gift card items or sizes ($10, $25, $50, etc.).
Add the incremental gift cards to your online menus.
When an online gift card order comes through, load a physical card with the amount that was purchased in Arryved Service.
Comp the full amount of the gift card since it’s already been paid for online. Doing this creates a gift card liability for proper accounting.
Deliver or ship the gift card to the purchaser, or set aside for it to be picked up.
Keep reading for full instructions on how to complete each step.
In this first step, you’ll need to create separate gift cards with incremental amounts. For example, you can create $10, $25, $50, and $100 gift cards.
There are two ways to do this:
Create separate Inventory Items for each gift card amount. They’ll appear as separate menu items in your Online Store.
Create Unit Sizes for each gift card amount and create one online gift card item with those sizes applied.
Option 1: To Create Separate Gift Card Items
Head to your Arryved Portal.
From the left side navigation, click Inventory.
Click on an Inventory Folder or create a new one if needed.
Click on New Item +.
Create your first online gift card. Here are the must have:
Include the predetermined amount in the Name of the item (e.g. ‘$50 Gift Card’)
Select an Item Type that has a 0% tax rate.
In the Costs section, add your ‘ORDER’ Unit Size or something equivalent.
Enter the predetermined amount as the Price.
Review and Save!
Repeat for each incremental gift card item. Use the Clone button to save time!
P.S. Do NOT add the GIFTCARD Item Tag to your online gift cards.
If you need a refresher, read How To Create Inventory Items.
Option 2: Create Gift Card Unit Sizes
From the left side navigation, click Inventory.
Click Inventory Settings.
Click Unit Sizes.
Scroll to the bottom to add a new size.
Give it a name that represents the gift card amount (e.g. $10).
Use the Online Sort Order field to position this size in chronological order. The smaller gift card amount should have the lowest number in this field. The largest gift card amount should have the largest number in this field.
Click Save.
Repeat for each incremental gift card amount.
Now you must create a Gift Card Inventory Item (see steps above).
Name it ‘Online Gift Cards’ but in the Guest Menu Name field, name it 'Gift Card’ (this is so the name doesn’t overlap with the name of the Gift Card item you sell through Arryved Service).
Give it an Item Type with a 0% tax rate.
In the Costs section, add the Unit Sizes you just created. In the Price field, enter the same dollar amount that’s in the name.
Review and Save!
Now that you have online gift cards in your inventory, you can add them to your online menus!
Remember, that your online menus live in your online Venue(s). You may have more than one online Venue for your various Order Modalities. If you want to offer gift card sales through more than one Modality, you may need to add them to menus in more than one online Venue.
You can quickly add the gift card item(s) to menus on the Inventory Item page, by expanding the Menus section and using the checkboxes:
If you need to create new menus to add the gift card(s) to, here’s what to do.
From the left side navigation in your Arryved Portal, click Venue.
Click on an online Venue.
Click on a menu you’d like to add the gift cards to or create a separate gift card menu.
When your full inventory item list appears, find the online gift card item(s) and add it to this menu.
If you need a refresher, read How To Create Online Menus.
When you get notified that a gift card was purchased through your Arryved Online Store, you’ll need to load the balance on the physical card in Arryved Service.
Grab a blank physical gift card.
Open Arryved Service and log in.
Begin a new tab.
Find the gift card item on the menu (you may need to toggle to a specific Venue)
When prompted, swipe the gift card through the card reader.
Enter the amount that the online gift card was purchased for.
Give the tab a name or table number and Send the order.
Find the tab and apply a 100% Item Comp on the gift card (this is because the gift card was already paid for online).
Pro Tip! Create a separate gift card Comp Type to keep using for this scenario.
Important! Using a Tab Comp may prevent the gift card from loading a balance. Please use an Item Comp only.
Close out the tab to $0.
Depending on which Order Modality the online order came through, you’ll need to deliver or ship the gift card to the purchaser or set it aside to be picked up.
