TM-M30III Printer Setup Guide (TM Utility)

Epson TM-M30III Wireless Printer Setup

Have a brand new Epson TM-M30II printer you need to set up? Or are you trying to re-configuring the one you already have? This article shows you how to wirelessly configure in a few easy steps.

Prerequisites

  • Grab one of your Arryved POS Tablets. Make sure it is charged.

  • Have your paper roll ready to load into the printer.

  • This guide is for Epson TM-M30III receipt printers. If you’re configuring an older model, use the Epson Printer Setup Guide (Wireless EpsonNet) guide instead.

Limitations

  • These instructions are for setting up your printer using an Android device. Mac and PC should work the same as long as you are using Google Chrome as the browser. Some steps in this guide may work or look a little differently.

Setup Guide

Steps To Follow

  1. Load paper

  2. Printer startup

  3. Connect to Epson Network

  4. Update your TM Utility app

  5. Connect printer to POS Network

  6. Set IP Address to Manual (static)

Step 1: Load Paper

  1. Grab the paper roll for this printer.

  2. While the printer is off and unplugged, open the paper chamber by pressing down on the latch to the right of the paper feed.

  3. Load the paper.

  4. Close the paper chamber, make sure a little piece of the roll is sticking out.

Step 2: Printer Startup

  1. Plug the printer in and press the power button one time to turn it on.

    • If you’re reconfiguring this printer you’ve already had in use, first turn it off by holding the power button down for 20-30 seconds until all the lights turn off.

    • Then, grab a pen, paperclip, or other pointy object and insert it into the ‘SW’ pinhole while simultaneously pressing down on the power button. Hold both for 2-3 seconds until the first sheet prints out. It will say “Please wait”. Then wait for the next 2 papers to print.

  2. Grab the sheets that printed out.

Step 3: Connect To Epson Network

  1. Grab one of your POS tablets.

  2. Open the camera app and scan the QR code that printed on one of the sheets.

  3. When prompted to connect to the device, enter 12345678 as the password.

    • If your tablet has connected to this printer before, you won’t need to enter the password, it will auto-connect.

Step 4: Update Your TM Utility App

Your Arryved tablet comes with the TM Utility app pre-loaded onto it, but it may be an outdated version. This next step can only be done on the latest version of the app.

  1. Open the Google Play Store app from your app list.

  2. Search for ‘TM Utility’.

  3. Tap Update.

    • You may need to tap on the app’s logo first, then tap Update.

    • If you only see the ‘Open’ and ‘Uninstall’ options, that means the app is up-to-date.

Step 5: Connect Printer To Your POS Network

  1. Open the TM Utility app.

  2. In the blue bar across the top, make sure ‘TM-m30III’ is shown. If not, tap on the blue bar, then select the correct printer type.

  3. Tap NEXT.

  1. If you’re prompted to connect to the device, tap Connect (this will happen if you’ve connected to this printer before. This is an alternative to connecting via the QR code in step 3 of this guide).
  1. Under Network Selection, select the network you use for your POS devices.

  2. Tap NEXT.

  3. Enter your POS Network’s password in the Passphrase field.

  4. Tap NEXT.

  5. On the IP Address Setting screen, select Auto (DCHP).

  6. Tap NEXT.

  7. Tap SET TO PRINTER.

  8. Wait for processing to complete, then tap FINISH.

  9. The printer will print a sheet with its IP address on it. On the Printer Selection screen, tap on the TM-m30III printer with the matching IP address (shown to the right of the printer name).

Step 6: Set IP Address To Manual (Static)

  1. From the main menu, tap Change Printer Settings.

  2. Tap Various Settings.

  3. Tap Network.

  4. Tap Set.

  5. Tap IP Address.

  6. Under IP Address change from Automatic to Manual.

  7. Tap the back arrow at the bottom of the tablet.

  8. Tap YES from the prompt that appears.

  9. Tap the back arrow two more times until you see the blue ‘SET TO PRINTER’ button in the lower right corner.

  10. Tap SET TO PRINTER.

  11. Wait for processing to complete.

  12. Tap OK on the success prompt.

You’re good to go! You can exit the TM Utility app.
